Under the direction of the Crime Analysis Program Manager, the employee would be responsible for the compilation, examination and analysis of crime information and statistics to identify trends and patterns in relation to criminal activity.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Information is analyzed to determine the presence of potential linkages between various criminal activities and to identify crime patterns.
Manual, automated and other crime analysis techniques are utilized in the creation of statistics bulletins, graphs, charts and maps.
The Crime Analyst develops and maintains databases to track crime patterns.
The Crime Analyst works closely with commanders, supervisors and detectives in receiving data and relaying the findings of the analyzed data in relation to investigations and patterns.
Work is performed independently and collaboratively within established policies and procedures.
Due to the sensitive nature of the work, the highest degree of confidentiality must be maintained.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES An associate's degree or sixty (60) college credits from an accredited college or university with major course work in mathematics or the social sciences, including courses in statistical analysis and data processing.
Two (2) years of work experience in data and/or statistical analysis may be substituted for education.
Knowledge in computer applications including but not limited to:
Google, Microsoft Office.
Familiarity with the criminal justice system and police procedures.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively and complete assignments in an efficient manner, frequently under pressure and deadline requirements.
Ability to handle multiple projects and react quickly to changing priorities.
Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attention to detail and accuracy.
The candidate must be able to pass a comprehensive background investigation.
This is a safety sensitive position and employees in this position are subject to random controlled dangerous substance (CDS) and alcohol testing.
Ability to accept a non-disclosure agreement pertaining to confidential and law enforcement sensitive information.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge and familiarity with Tableau data visualization software.
At least two (2) years of experience as a sworn or civilian crime or intelligence analyst working in an intelligence-led policing environment.
Ability to access Criminal Justice Information Systems, such as NCIC, METERS, and LInX.
Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems, such as ESRI (ArcGIS Pro).

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
