The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) is recruiting for an Administrative Specialist I (HR Specialist) position located in Anne Arundel County.
This is a Contractual position that is open to anyone who meets the minimum qualifications listed below.
This announcement may also be used for future vacancies throughout the state of Maryland for MDOT SHA If you indicated veteran status on your application, you must submit your DD-214 along with the completed DTS-1 (application).
The main purpose of this position is to support the Office of Materials Technology in the performance of various responsibilities of the Human Resources Section which include personnel transaction e.
g.
, Entry forms, reclassification, leave and overtime information and tracking, retirement information, record keeping and maintenance, payroll, administrative work and training.
The incumbent will perform intermediate level of clerical duties, which are typically found in office settings, such as:
completing form letters; entering/retrieving/updating information using computer data base/spreadsheet software applications; filing; photocopying; posting data; maintaining logs/records; stamping, sorting and distributing mail/other material; answering telephone calls, taking messages or directing calls to the appropriate office.

The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) has been named Training Magazine's Training APEX Awards for the third consecutive year.
Qualifications Education:
Completion of 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university.
Experience:
None.
Notes:
1.
Additional experience as defined above may be substituted for the required education at the rate of one year of experience for 30 semester credit hours, for up to 60 semester credit hours of the required education.
2.
Ninety semester credit hours at an accredited college or university may be substituted for the required education and experience.
3.
Candidates may substitute U.
S.
Armed Forces military service experience involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.
